Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has told club owner Roman Abramovich a plan on how to convince Borussia Dortmund and secure Erling Haaland transfer, according to Sport.

The Spanish news outlet claims there are six clubs currently in the race to sign the 20-year-old striker; Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich.

And each of these clubs, according to the report, have made their move, in one way or another.

At Chelsea, Tuchel has “expressed to Abramovich the need to make an effort to convince Dortmund” over Haaland transfer, the report claims.

The reported plan is to offer Timo Werner a significant amount of money to Dortmund in exchange for Haaland.

An earlier report from ESPN claims Dortmund are aware of the interests shown by these clubs and would demand a €180million (£154m) fee for the highly sought-after striker this summer.

ESPN further added that senior figures at Chelsea were confident that they could tempt Dortmund into a deal this summer, but that was before the Bundesliga side’s valuation of the Haaland became clear.

Given the current financial situation, it is likely that the reported price tag is just an attempt from Dortmund to keep their ace at the club for another season.

Would Tuchel really want to use Werner to persuade Dortmund?

Perhaps, but so far there is no indication that the Germany international is not in Tuchel’s Chelsea plans for the next season.

Haaland reportedly has a €75m (£64m) release clause which will be active at the end of the 2021/22 season (CBS Sports), it just does not seem reasonable to pay over twice as much if clubs can wait for another season.
