Conor Gallagher’s expected inclusion in the Chelsea first-team squad next season could alter their summer transfer plans, according to the Evening Standard.
The 22-year-old is having an outstanding season on loan at Crystal Palace on loan this season, having already racked up seven goals and three assists in the Premier League so far.
These numbers put him ahead of any Chelsea player except for Mason Mount (seven goals and six assists) in terms of goal contributions in the competition.
According to the report, Thomas Tuchel has been “hugely impressed” by Gallagher and is convinced that the midfielder can compete for a regular first-team role next season.

Tuchel, however, has already had three key, experienced midfielders in N’Golo Kante, Jorginho, and Mateo Kovacic.
The former two placed fifth and third in the 2021 Ballon d’Or ranking and are expected to continue playing prominent roles in the team next season.
Chelsea have been looking at two young midfielders; West Ham’s Declan Rice and Aurelien Tchouameni as potential summer signings, but Gallagher’s expected return could alter the plans, the report added.

Tuchel spoilt for midfield choice at Chelsea in summer
Even if Chelsea were to abandon their reported pursuit of Rice and Tchouameni, Tuchel may still have too many midfield options at his disposal to keep everyone happy.
Bear in mind, there are only two midfield spots in Tuchel’s go-to 3-4-3 system.
The Blues will reportedly listen to offers for both Ross Barkley and Ruben Loftus-Cheek whose possible exits would create space in the squad.
But Billy Gilmour and Ethan Ampadu will also be back for pre-season next season and add even personnel into Chelsea’s midfield department.
Perhaps, a formation change would be inevitable next season if Chelsea are to make use of the abundance of talent in their midfield.
