Report: Tuchel relationship with Borussia Dortmund could hinder Chelsea's pursuit of Erling Haaland
German news outlet Bild claims Thomas Tuchel’s “unpleasant” departure and relationship with the higher-ups at Borussia Dortmund could impact Chelsea’s pursuit of Erling Haaland.
It is no secret that Tuchel left the Bundesliga side on bad terms back in 2017.
In his statement (via Goal) Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke that he and sporting director Michael Zorc had become “worn out” dealing with Tuchel and his coaching staff.
It is safe to say that it was not an ideal ending to Tuchel’s reigns at Signal Iduna Park.
This time, their paths might cross again as Chelsea are reportedly in the race to sign Dortmund ace Haaland.
According to Bild, it is very unlikely that Dortmund will “voluntarily” sell their goalscorer to Tuchel’s side.
The report has also played down the rumours about Tuchel’s potentially using Timo Werner as part of the deal to sign Haaland, claiming the former RB Leipzig forward is still in Tuchel’s plans.
The thing is, Tuchel will not be negotiating for any potential deal for Haaland transfer or any other transfer at Chelsea, it is Marina Granovskaia.
It also seems unlikely that someone like Watzke would let his personal feeling affect his business decision.
It might actually be harder to convince Haaland and potentially his agent Mino Raiola about the potential transfer than the executives at Dortmund if Chelsea can afford to meet their asking price.
