Report: Two Chelsea youngsters set to be offered new contracts after impressing Tuchel in training

Chelsea are reportedly planning contract offers for two of their talented youngsters impressing at Stamford Bridge.

Goal claims that Blues duo Harvey Vale and Xavier Simons could be in line for fresh deals.

The report says that London giants Chelsea want to renew the contracts of the pair, who both recently made their first-team debuts together in the same game.

Vale and Simons, along with Jude Soonsup-Bell, are three players from the Chelsea academy that were all handed senior debuts in December’s 2-0 win against Brentford in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.

Tuchel was extremely complimentary after the Brentford result on how the trio performed in the game, as well as how they listened in training.

“They (Vale, Simons and Soonsup-Bell) were good. They did very well, so congratulations to them. They were hugely involved in this win. It was their first time, and they had two training sessions with us, and I’m happy for them,” Tuchel said.

“They did not train for one week when the academy was closed because of Covid and then we invited them to come with us two days ago. They were listening carefully and they did their jobs tonight.”

Vale the standout Chelsea talent

It was great to see a new crop of academy players involved with the Chelsea side this month, especially Vale.

The 18-year-old Englishman is an exciting attacking midfielder that’s so often looked the best player on the pitch when representing the Under-23s this season.

He was really composed in the cup tie against Brentford, so hopefully it’s not the last time supporters watch him this season.

He’s got the versatility to provide cover in a left wing-back role the senior squad are struggling in right now, but his long-term future surely lies as a creator higher up the pitch.

Reports surrounding a new deal for Vale suggests that Chelsea believe in the hype as much as some fans.

In addition, 18-year-old Simons is clearly well liked by the Blues hierarchy as well given a new contract may be looming for him. He’s a teenage central midfielder that is calm on the ball and showed great character stepping in as a right wing-back against Brentford on debut.
