Conor Gallagher is among several Chelsea players who could leave Stamford Bridge this summer despite his willingness to stay, according to reports.

Chelsea are expected to trim their oversized squad at the end of the season and Football London claims that Gallagher could be one of the players who will be made available in the market.

It is easy to see why as well. At 23, Gallagher has the potential that will attract plenty of offers and his being an academy graduate makes him one of the club’s most profitable assets.

The England international has made 38 appearances for the Blues in all competitions but the majority of them were from the bench.

However, Football London adds that Gallagher is not desperate to leave Chelsea.

This suggests that he is likely content with his squad player role for now, and people tend to overlook how important this is for the team.

His homegrown status will also be important for Chelsea when they get back into European competitions, especially if they are to lose Mason Mount and Ruben Loftus-Cheek this summer.

The biggest problem with Gallagher at Chelsea is his lack of output, having only registered two goals and an assist this season.

That said, the whole Chelsea team have been underwhelming in this area as well.

Gallagher racked up eight goals and three assists for loan club Crystal Palace last season; the club’s second-best in terms of goal involvement.

There is, therefore, evidence that he could be effective in the final third.

Obviously, he may not get another opportunity to prove himself and this will depend on the next manager.
