Report: Winger changes his mind about joining Chelsea despite agreement between clubs
Chelsea are facing a major stumbling block in their pursuit of Raphinha despite having already reached an agreement with Leeds United over transfer fees, according to Goal.
Leeds, according to the report, have already accepted an offer worth £55million from Chelsea for the 25-year-old.
However, Chelsea is facing a problem in negotiating a contract with Raphinha, who has reportedly agreed personal terms with Barcelona.
Goal claims that the Brazil international was initially open to talks with Chelsea before changing his stance and pushing for a move to Barcelona.
Raphinha’s agent, Deco, is said to be leading the negotiations with Barcelona and was reportedly seen at Camp Nou on Wednesday over a potential move.
The transfer saga would have been more simple if Barcelona had matched Chelsea’s offer, but they instead are trying to convince Leeds to accept a lower bid instead.
As a result, there has reportedly been a dispute between Leeds and the winger behind the scenes over the transfer.
Goal also mentioned that Raphinha has already warned Leeds that he prefers to join Barcelona than other interested clubs, including Arsenal who are reportedly out of the race already.
Raphinha himself has two years left in his contract at Elland Road, so Leeds would arguably have to sell him this summer to maximise their profit.
The former Rennes star finished last season with 11 goals and three assists in the Premier League, leading the club’s goalscoring charts.
