Fabrizio Romano reports that there is a strong chance Chelsea could acquire Wilfried Zaha on a free transfer.
Writing for CaughtOffside, Romano claimed that a move from the Stamford Bridge chain of command for Crystal Palace’s talisman may well be on the cards.
Zaha has been linked to the Blues on numerous occasions this season, with the attacker edging closer to an exit from Selhurst Park.
The 30-year-old’s contract expires in June, and it seems increasingly likely he will not renew his stay with Palace.
Could Chelsea take Zaha on a free transfer?
Many have been surprised that Ivory Coast international has left it this late in his career to flee the Eagles’ nest, considering the ‘unplayable’ talents he has at his disposal.

He has already scored six times in the Premier League this season, nearly half of what he managed across the entire 2021/22 campaign.
But now the time finally feels right for Zaha to bid farewell to his current home and move on to new pastures.
His journey might only be a short one across London if Chelsea are serious in pursuit of the mazy forward.
“Crystal Palace will try until the end to keep Wilfried Zaha, but yes, I’m told a free transfer is now a serious possibility and the most likely solution. He’d move for an important club, but I think before January nothing will be resolved,” explained Romano.
Joining Graham Potter’s side would certainly be seen as a step up for Zaha in terms of status.

Although right now, not much separates Chelsea and Palace.
There is only a three-point Premier League buffer between the two capital city teams, owed to the Blues’ torrid form ahead of the World Cup.
Zaha will face his potential future employers on the 15th of January, where he could truly influence Todd Boehly to secure his services in the summer.
