Chelsea have been linked with making a move for several strikers in the January transfer window. Timo Werner is a name who continues to be mentioned. But should the Blues look at signing an experienced forward who the young stars can learn from instead?

One of the most experienced out there is Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Now 38-years-old, he will not be the player he once was. However, he could still do a job in the Premier League as a back-up striker. There is also the added benefit of the young players learning from him, so should Chelsea consider signing Zlatan?

Ibrahimovic is a mercurial forward who has scored many ludicrous goals and has enjoyed a long and illustrious career at the top of the game. He has enjoyed spells at Barcelona, PSG, Manchester United, both Milan clubs, and most recently LA Galaxy.

He is now a free agent and looking for a club.  The Swedish legend scored 52 games in 56 games during his spell in America and still knows where the goal is.

There would be a lot of eyebrow-raising going on if Chelsea did make a move for Zlatan, seeing as he is just two years shy of 40. Despite this, his experience could prove to be valuable for the young crop of players currently thriving.

Imagine Abraham with an injection of Zlatan’s flair and endearing arrogance. It could take him to the next level. Ibrahimovic could prove to be a suitable back-up option for Chelsea, and would not cost the club a penny in transfer fees because he is a free agent. It could be an option worth considering.
