Should Chelsea make a move for former Blue Oscar?

Oscar made over 200 appearances for Chelsea before moving to Chinese side Shangai SIPG in 2016. The Daily Mail has reported that a new £42,000-a-week wage cap is to be introduced in the Chinese Super League, which could lead to an exodus of foreign stars.

Oscar could be one of those making a move, so should Chelsea look to bring him back in?

The Brazilian is currently on a reported wage of £400,000-a-week (Daily Mail). He would lose almost 90% of his earnings if he stays in China. He will likely seek a move back to Europe, and what better place to look than your former club?

The 28-year-old was a success during his time in London. Despite not always being consistent, he scored some outrageous goals and carried a real threat from midfield. He could score from range, run in behind and pick out a pass that would create a goalscoring opportunity. The current Chelsea side is missing that creative edge.

His position in attacking midfield would not fit the Blue’s current system, but Oscar could be effective in a wide forward role. Also, Lampard made use of the 4-2-3-1 formation at times for Derby last season and Oscar would fit perfectly in the central role behind the striker if this system was used.

Oscar is still two years shy of 30 and is far from past it. He will be keen to regain his European reputation and could come relatively cheap. If Chelsea can regain his services for a fraction of the £60 million they sold him for, it could be a good deal for those at Stamford Bridge.
