Chelsea supporters on social media breathed a big sigh of relief after Fabrizio Romano gave an update on Mason Mount’s commitment to the club.

Romano stated on his Here We Go podcast that Mount was ‘untouchable’ heading into the summer transfer window, even if ‘crazy bids’ came in for him.

It was inconceivable to some Blues fans that anyone could try to prise their most treasured possession away from Stamford Bridge.

Here’s how they reacted on Twitter:

A Chelsea team without Mount would feel like a Barcelona team without Lionel Messi; very strange.

He is Blue through and through.

An academy product since he was six, the 22-year-old is now the heartbeat of Thomas Tuchel’s squad.

Very few understand what it means to represent the badge more than Mount, so to suggest he could potentially move away seems preposterous.

But could anyone be blamed for wanting to sign the England sensation?

His performances this season have been of the highest level, done so on a consistent basis.

A maturity has developed in Mount’s game as well, highlighted when Frank Lampard named him captain for an FA Cup tie against Luton Town.

Combine all of this, plus his natural talent, and the Chelsea midfielder makes for a very exciting prospect.

In 2019, Mount signed a five-year deal with his boyhood side.

If anyone was brave enough to even consider moving in for the Blues beacon, they better do so with a hefty wallet close to hand.
