Chelsea are reportedly interested in South American goalkeeper Sergio Romero – and some Blues fans on Twitter have given a big thumbs up to the transfer speculation.
According to The Telegraph, Chelsea are considering the Argentine shot-stopper as a target.
The report explains Thomas Tuchel’s side are stepping up their search to sign a new third-choice goalkeeper.
Romero is currently available after leaving Manchester United in the summer, so Chelsea could snap him up as a free agent.
The 34-year-old, who spent six years at Old Trafford as David De Gea’s understudy, didn’t do much wrong in his role as cover at Man United. That’s something Chelsea would now love him to do at Stamford Bridge.
He’s earned 96 caps for Argentina despite a lack of club football in recent years. Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez is the number one for his country now, and recently helped win the Copa America.
A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media would like to see Romero at Stamford Bridge.
He’s an experienced option that is good with the ball at his feet, so any deal makes sense.
It must be stressed though that brilliant Blues goalkeeper Edouard Mendy is the number one after an amazing debut season last year. Meanwhile, Kepa Arrizabalaga is currently the number two choice.
