Chelsea are reportedly interested in trying to sign Lille centre-forward Jonathan David – and some Blues fans on Twitter are extremely positive about the transfer links.

According to TSN, Chelsea are one of a few clubs to make an enquiry for the 22-year-old striker. Barcelona and Tottenham have been in contact with French club Lille, too.

The report states it’s “increasingly likely” that the Canada international will make a big money transfer at the end of the season when the summer window comes around.

David, who’s scored 16 goals in 29 games across all competitions so far this season, is a young forward making a great impact in France.

He’s the joint-top goalscorer (12) in Ligue 1 this season alongside Monaco’s Wissam Ben Yedder, scoring two more than Paris Saint-Germain’s sensation Kylian Mbappe.

Also, the frontman scored three goals in the Champions League group stages. Incidentally, Lille face Chelsea in the last-16 of the competition.

A selection of Blues supporters on social media have given a big thumbs up to transfer speculation linking them with David.

There is definitely a problem in attack right now at Stamford Bridge, with penalty taker Jorginho the club’s top scorers so far this season.

Romelu Lukaku’s arrival this season was meant to solve the number nine position, but his manager Thomas Tuchel is still trying to find the best way to use him.

Lille’s David is an upcoming talent that could be ideal competition for Lukaku at striker, and the squad could do with another number nine. However, Chelsea loanee Armando Broja needs to come into the equation.

As it stands, Broja will return from his loan at Southampton at the end of the season. The Blues-owned striker is showing he’s got the quality to succeed in the Premier League, but the Saints are reportedly trying to secure a permanent deal for him.

Here are some Chelsea fans discussing David.
