There’s a chance Ian Maatsen could leave Chelsea before the summer transfer window closes.
That is according to well-respected journalist Matt Law.
Ian Maatsen, 21, was the surprise story of Chelsea’s pre-season tour that managed to force his way into Mauricio Pochettino’s main squad for the start of the new campaign.
However, will the Blues youngster remain with the group for the whole of the 2023/24 season?

Law reports that Chelsea sources tell him Maatsen may exit Stamford Bridge in the final week of the current transfer window.
“Sources do tell me that there is a thought that he (Maatsen) could leave before the window shuts. You would really hope it is on loan.. I certainly wouldn’t rule out Maatsen going before the window shuts at this rate,” Law told the London Is Blue podcast.
Maatsen is an attack-minded left-back by trade that enjoyed a fantastic season-long loan last year at Burnley. He was integral as Vincent Kompany’s side romped to the Championship title and promotion back to the top division.
In addition, the Dutchman is a versatile talent that Pochettino has used in wide and central attacking positions so far.

Journalist Bobby Vincent reported via Football.London last week that Pochettino is a huge fan of Maatsen. However, he added that Chelsea have been open to selling him amid interest from Premier League clubs such as West Ham.
In our view, there’s definitely a spot for Maatsen moving forward in this squad.
His versatility to play across the attack is a big plus in the squad and we would like to see him get a chance from the start this Friday night against Luton Town.

In addition, Maatsen provides extra cover in the left-back position and is well liked by the head coach.
