‘Still in talks’: Chelsea are still trying to sign ‘enormous talent’ but now facing new competition – Romano

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed on Twitter that Chelsea are still pushing to sign Inter Milan’s Cesare Casadei.

However, he has stated that OGC Nice are interested in a deal for the youngster, with him beginning to attract more top European clubs.

The Italian is yet to feature for the Nerazzurri’s first team, although has been stealing headlines due to his performances for the club’s youth sides.

He notched up 17 goals in all competitions last season, attracting interest from a number of sides including Chelsea.

The Blues have already had two bids rejected, although it was claimed yesterday that they were only just bidding outside of what Inter were hoping to receive for him.

However, Romano has now claimed the club are facing competition for his signature, with the Ligue 1 side declaring their interest in a deal.

Chelsea face competition for Casadei

He said: “OGC Nice are interested in Cesare Casadei. Chelsea are still in talks with Inter but Nice are also in the race – buy back option is part of the conversations. 

“Inter won’t accept €8/9m fee for Casadei, as two Chelsea bids have been turned down.”

The interest in Casadei comes in the midst of Chelsea making a number of purchases with an eye to the future.

The Blues have already completed deals for young stars Carney Chukwuemeka and Gabriel Slonina, with the latter returning to MLS outfit Chicago Fire on loan until the end of their season in January.

The former Aston Villa man meanwhile is reportedly admired by Thomas Tuchel, with him keeping the 18-year-old with the Chelsea first team for the upcoming season.

With it being claimed that Chelsea are so close to securing a deal for the player described as having ‘enormous talent’, it feels like they should get the deal done, in order to secure another asset for the future.
