Barcelona journalist Gerard Romero has claimed that Chelsea and Barcelona are in discussions over potentially signing Memphis Depay.

The Dutchman has made it clear throughout the summer that he is keen to leave the Catalan club, who have been busy themselves trying to close the gap to Real Madrid in La Liga.

They have added Robert Lewandowski to their ranks in a high-profile deal, as well as bringing in Raphinha from under Chelsea’s noses.

This has seemingly lead to Depay being surplus to requirements, and searching for a termination of his contract if a club are interested in taking him.

He has impressed for both club and country, with former manager Ronald Koeman describing him as a ‘joy to watch.’

He looked set for a move to Juventus earlier in the window, although that collapsed and left him likely to stay at the Nou Camp.

However, Romero has stated that the Blues may be about to hand him a way out, with them interested in adding him to their ranks as well as fellow Barcelona man Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Blues have agreed a fee with the Catalan club for the former Arsenal striker, with him set to fly to London today to complete his medical to become a new Chelsea player.

The two clubs have been in touch a lot this summer, with Marcos Alonso set to go the other way in a long-awaited deal.

It could well be too late for the Blues to secure a deal, with there being only hours left of what’s proved to be a dramatic first window under the new owners.

There are still rumours that Chelsea are looking to bring in Edson Alvarez from Ajax, with the need for a midfielder cropping up after a string of injuries early in the season.

However, it is for sure that Aubameyang will become a Chelsea player today.
