Sunderland have just agreed to sign Mason Burstow on loan from Chelsea for the 2023/24 campaign.
That is according to The Athletic.
So, what is the latest on Mason Burstow? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well – according to the Evening Standard – Mauricio Pochettino was thinking about keeping the Chelsea academy graduate after he impressed during the summer.
Burstow has already been handed two Premier League appearances so far this season, and has clearly made an impression on the Argentine.
However, that story from the Evening Standard claimed that Pochettino would still consider a loan if he felt it would be more beneficial to the 20-year-old, and an opportunity at Sunderland has now emerged.

The Athletic believe Burstow is already at Sunderland’s training ground, where he will undergo a medical and discuss personal terms before signing a contract.
Tony Mowbray is on the lookout for a new striker after selling Ross Stewart to Southampton on Thursday, and the 59-year-old now looks to have found a solution in Burstow.
Mason Burstow opportunity is fantastic news for Chelsea
It would have been nice for Burstow to be amongst established superstars for an entire campaign at Stamford Bridge, and he surely would have learned a lot.

However, there is nothing like regular senior football to further a youngster’s development, and the Stadium of Light represents a brilliant place for Burstow to hone his skills.
Hopefully, Mowbray uses the Chelsea No.37 regularly, and he returns to Stamford Bridge as twice the player.
