'Take him': Some Chelsea fans have perfect solution to signing Rice after latest claim
Chelsea supporters believe they have found the answer to securing Declan Rice following an update on Ross Barkley’s future.
A report from the Telegraph stated that West Ham United’s manager was a big admirer of Barkley and may look to sign him on loan next season.
This was music to the ears of Blues fans, who felt they could lure Rice to Stamford Bridge as part of an exchange deal.
They also added Tammy Abraham as part of this swap, another player who West Ham are apparently monitoring (Telegraph).
RONALDO NEEDS TO STOP WHINING.
Barkley is currently serving his season on-loan with Aston Villa.
After a promising start to life with Dean Smith’s side, the 27-year-old has struggled to regain any kind of form.
It now looks unlikely that Villa will sign him permanently, but also begs the question if Chelsea can fit him into their star-studded squad.
A move to West Ham wouldn’t be the worst idea in the world.
Jesse Lingard’s rejuvenation proves that the Hammers can rebuild broken talent.
It would also be beneficial for Chelsea if they could somehow use Barkley to bring in Rice.
Frank Lampard didn’t hide his approval of the England midfielder, nor his desire to buy him whilst acting as Blues boss.
The Guardian suggested that this interest would die following Lampard’s departure.
However, this curiosity could be relit if Chelsea manage to offload Barkley and Abraham to make room for Rice.
The Chelsea Chronicle View
I do like Barkley, but I’m struggling where he will fit into this Chelsea team.
There is more than enough attacking ability at Thomas Tuchel’s disposal.
I think the German coach would give him a chance though, so it will be interesting what decision is made over the summer.
On the Rice saga, I rate Blues fans thinking. However, I don’t see West Ham letting their main man leave that easily.
