‘Talks are scheduled’: Chelsea about to hold conversations about getting rid of 28-year-old player – journalist

Journalist Florian Plettenberg has claimed that Chelsea are about to enter discussions with Bayern Munich over attempting to sell Kepa Arrizabalaga.

He took to Twitter to state that the Bundesliga champions are working on a loan deal to bring in the goalkeeper, with an option to buy included.

It emerged earlier this week that Bayern were convinced that Kepa was the best possible option for them to bring in a goalkeeper, after Yann Sommer’s move away was confirmed.

It has also been said that the interest comes off the back of current manager and former Blues boss, Thomas Tuchel.

This is despite the German hardly starting the 28-year-old in his time at Stamford Bridge, instead preferring to select Edouard Mendy.

Kepa is currently facing competition from countryman Robert Sanchez, who was recently signed from Brighton after falling out of favour there.

He is reunited again with former goalkeeping coach Ben Roberts, who is said to be crucial to his abilities on the pitch.

His path to become the number one in West London could be about to become a lot clearer, with Plettenberg claiming that talks over the longest serving current Chelsea player are about to occur.

He said: “Kepa: FC Bayern is working on a loan now! Probably with an option to buy. Talks with Chelsea are scheduled. The 28 y/o should replace Sommer. Bayern, convinced of his quality and character Rulli, an option behind Kepa.”

Despite breaking back into the side as the clear number one last season, there is plenty of scepticism over Kepa’s ability to be a goalkeeper at a side who have the ambitions that Chelsea do.
