Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the situation involving Chelsea and Nicolas Jackson after personal terms were agreed with the Villarreal striker.
That was according to The Athletic.
So, what has Fabrizio Romano now said about Nicolas Jackson to Chelsea? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, the reliable Italian journalist explained why things have gone relatively quiet since The Athletic revealed that Chelsea agreed personal terms with the Senegal international.
Romano said on YouTube: “Chelsea, on Monday, advanced a lot over a deal for Nicolas Jackson. Chelsea contacted Villarreal and confirmed their intention to match the €35m (£30m) release clause. The point now is discussions over instalments.
“Instead of triggering the clause and paying the money in full, Chelsea are negotiating with Villarreal to do it in maybe two or three instalments. The player has been very clear, he wants Chelsea and nothing else.”

As you can see, there is no reason to worry about the deal collapsing – by the sounds of it, Chelsea and Villarreal are merely discussing basic details.
Chelsea could be on to a diamond in Nicolas Jackson
In our view, Chelsea could get themselves a bargain with a £30m deal for Jackson.
The 22-year-old still looks a bit rough around the edges, but with Mauricio Pochettino coaching him, we see no reason why he cannot explode in the Premier League.
Jackson scored 12 goals in 26 La Liga appearances last season, including nine goals in his final eight games of the 2022/23 campaign to help Villarreal finish fifth in Spain’s top-flight.

If the Senegalese wonderkid can translate that form into English football, he will make that £30m price tag seem like a snip in no time.
Be sure to keep an eye on the situation, as Jackson’s move to Chelsea should be made official soon.
