There’s been a worrying update regarding Chelsea’s reported pursuit to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.
We’re now into the final couple of hours of a frantic summer transfer window, where Chelsea continue to be linked with more signings on Friday’s deadline day.
Napoli centre-forward Victor Osimhen, 25, is a player who’s been heavily linked with a potential switch to West London in this window. Will the deal happen in the final hours of the transfer window, though?

Victor Osimhen to Chelsea latest
Journalist Miguel Delaney has reported via X on Friday night that Chelsea’s wage offer to Osimhen is still someway off what the Napoli ace wants.
Apparently, there’s a “huge gap” worth over £100,000-a-week between what the Blues are offering and what the player wants.
On top of that, Sky reporter Kaveh Solhekol reported via Sky Sports this evening that Chelsea have not given up hope of signing Osimhen this window, but that it’s being held up by discussions over incentives in the striker’s contract.
Victor Osimhen in the final hour would transform Chelsea’s season
If Chelsea somehow get a deal for Osimhen over the line tonight, there’s every chance it could be a game-changer in their campaign.
The Nigerian centre-forward is exactly the type of clinical man in attack they’re crying out for, scoring 76 goals in 133 Napoli appearances. Admittedly, he’s never actually played in the Premier League before, but his profile suggests he’s tailor-made for England’s top division.
Osimhen is the sort of statement signing that will elevate Chelsea’s forward line to a new level, someone who is a natural goalscorer to provide competition for Nicolas Jackson. It sounds like there’s so much work to be done in order for this to happen, though.
Will we see either party compromise as the clock ticks down in the window?
