Chelsea are apparently pretty confident that they can make a significant move for Declan Rice in the summer.

According to Ben Jacobs, Todd Boehly and his team are ‘planning’ a raid for West Ham United’s captain once the campaign concludes.

Boehly also seemingly believes Rice will be available for around £75m, a decrease in price that the Hammers were asking for in the previous transfer window.

The England international has been a favourite of the Chelsea board pretty much ever since he established himself as a Premier League stalwart.

Changing of managers or owners hasn’t altered the opinion in regards to the quality midfielder.

It feels fated that Rice should return to the club where his career began.

Cobham was the original host to the 23-year-old’s talents, before he headed across the capital to West Ham.

He didn’t wait around in their academy for long, making his league debut at the end of the 2017/17 season.

Since then, he’s played 215 times for the Irons, a majority of those arriving in the top flight.

After reaching 150 appearances in the league in January, Rice was labelled as ‘incomparable’.

There really aren’t many in the same bracket as the skipper at the London Stadium, hence why Chelsea are so eager to bring him home.
