Mario Melchiot has told TalkSPORT that Todd Boehly has already told him that he is aware Chelsea need to sign a striker.
The Blues came up short in front of goal again last time out, with them falling to a 1-0 defeat to Borussia Dortmund in the huge Champions League tie.
They had plenty of chances too. Joao Felix went closest to scoring when he hit the bar in the first half.

The Portugal international opened his account in the last league game against West Ham, however all of the qualities he has shown so far would suggest he stars in a position behind the striker.
This has left Graham Potter with the conundrum of who to play up front, with Kai Havertz still flattering to deceive in the role when he has played there.
Boehly aware Chelsea need a striker
Melchiot has claimed he brought the topic up to the Chelsea owner at the Dortmund game, with them already acknowledging the issue they have.
He said: “We had a conversation with some of the people who work at Chelsea. One of the biggest questions came up [about a striker]. We said, ‘Guys…’ and they said, ‘Yes, we already know’.

“They know they need a striker. The club knows they need a striker! So, I don’t know how long they’re going to wait until they take action [and sign a striker].”
The Blues will are awaiting the arrival of Christopher Nkunku at the end of the season, however the player himself has claimed that he sees himself as a better player working off a natural striker.
An option for the club to use domestically this season is David Datro Fofana, who has already made a couple of appearances off the bench for the Blues.
