Chelsea are reportedly planning to hold discussions with Thiago Silva about a new contract
Well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported on his Here We Go podcast that the Blues defender will sit down for talks over a new deal in the “coming weeks”.
It is stated that Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is “happy with” the 36-year-old, who he previously worked with at Paris Saint-Germain.
Romano has detailed that the club are pleased with the Brazilian centre-back and want to extend his stay with the player is happy in London, but he will take a little time making a decision with his family on his future.
It is claimed though that Silva is also happy with life at Chelsea.
Despite his age, the £110,000-a-week defender has turned out to be a superb signing this season and his experience has rubbed off on so many within the squad.

The Chronicle View:
Chelsea definitely need to tie Silva down to a new contract for one more year, as he seems like such an authoritative and important figure in the dressing room.
The centre-half has looked the part on the pitch and shown why he’s been one of Europe’s best in the past decade.
Unfortunately, he’s currently sidelined with a thigh injury.
But his success has been a huge bonus for Chelsea on a free transfer and the fact Tuchel likes him should be enough for the club to ensure he commits his future beyond the summer.
