Chelsea are getting closer to signing Moises Caicedo from Brighton as negotiations continue between the two Premier League sides.
That is according to Fabrizio Romano.

What’s the story?
Well, Chelsea and Brighton are yet to agree a fee for the Ecuador international.
However – according to Romano – it seems things are heading in the right direction for Chelsea.
The reliable Italian journalist said on YouTube: “It is just about Chelsea and Brighton now (after personal terms were agreed with Caicedo). I can confirm that they spoke on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and also Monday.
“Chelsea hope to get a deal done for around £70m plus £10m in add-ons, Brighton want more than this, but this deal is absolutely on.”
Romano believes Roberto De Zerbi has promised Caicedo – who John Barnes described as “fantastic” on football365 – a move this summer, after denying him a switch to Arsenal in January.
The 21-year-old has developed into one of the best players in the Premier League following his £4.5m move to Brighton from Independiente del Valle in January 2021.
Caicedo not the only midfielder Chelsea are trying to sign
As talks for Caicedo continue, Chelsea have made a significant move to sign another midfielder in Romeo Lavia.
An update from Santi Aouna of French news outlet Foot Mercato states that Chelsea have offered the Southampton No.45 a contract as the Blues look to beat Liverpool to his signature.
It remains to be seen if Lavia accepts the terms, although it is clear that Mauricio Pochettino plans to add more numbers to his midfield department than just Caicedo.
That is a sensible decision – in our view – as Chelsea have already lost plenty of midfielders this summer, waving goodbye to N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and also Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
