Chelsea are now ready to accept a huge loss on Hakim Ziyech as Todd Boehly tells the Moroccan he can leave for Galatasaray on a free transfer.

That is according to Milliyet in Turkey.

So, what is the latest on Hakim Ziyech and Chelsea? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, the Blues looked set to receive £8m from the Morocco international’s move to Al-Nassr earlier this summer.

However, Ziyech surprisingly failed a medical with the Saudi Pro League side, and has since found himself in limbo at Stamford Bridge as he is not a part of Mauricio Pochettino’s plans.

Now, Chelsea are prepared to let the 30-year-old leave for nothing as the Blues attempt to remove any remaining deadwood at Stamford Bridge, taking a £33.3m loss on their initial investment made when signing him from Ajax in February 2020.

Milliyet believe Ziyech’s deal gives Galatasaray the right to cancel his contract if any health issues are found, as the failed medical with Al-Nassr has provided cause for concern.

Chelsea right to let Ziyech go for free

While some Chelsea fans out there may believe the Blues should still look to receive a fee for Ziyech – who Frank Lampard called a “quality” footballer – it is the right time to let him go.

At this stage of the window, it will be hard for Chelsea to get any kind of fee for a player who is quite clearly not too popular – especially after failing that medical.

Ultimately, the main focus here should be on Ziyech’s wages.

The Dronten-born winger earns £100,000-a-week at Stamford Bridge, and Chelsea cannot afford to keep paying him these wages if he isn’t involved in Pochettino’s plans.

Therefore, it makes sense for Boehly to let Ziyech go for free, purely to remove his significant salary from the wage bill – be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as an official announcement could soon be made.
