Fabrizio Romano has claimed on his YouTube channel that Todd Boehly is still making no progress over getting Mason Mount to agree a new contract.

The England international is currently expected to leave the club at the end of the season, a reality which seemed unthinkable less than 12 months ago.

The two-time Chelsea player of the year had been an important fixture of the first team under Frank Lampard and Thomas Tuchel.

His abilities have been more than noticed by pundits, with Rio Ferdinand describing him as ‘mad’ after a number of impressive consecutive performances.

However, Graham Potter has not been afraid to leave the 24-year-old out off the back of some poor performances this season.

Injury has kept him out of recent games, when the Blues have begun to pick up form at last.

Mount contract talks at standstill

Romano has reported that there is currently still no progress made towards getting Mount to agree to stay at Chelsea, with Liverpool an outfit to look out for to potentially sign him this summer.

He said: “The situation looks difficult between Chelsea and Mason Mount to extend the contract. Chelsea want to extend, but there is no agreement at the moment. His Father Tony Mount will remain his agent however Mason has also appointed Neil Fewing from ROOF group to take care of the negotiations with Chelsea and help the family. At the moment it’s a total standstill.

“If no deal is done before the summer, Chelsea will put Mason Mount on the market. The situation is one to watch, and ROOF Group has good relationships with top clubs; keep an eye on Liverpool.”

Chelsea are not short of reported transfer targets as they look to find the long-term solution to a partner for Enzo Fernandez.

The likes of Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia have been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, after both have enjoyed stellar seasons so far.
