Thomas Tuchel and Bayern Munich could now make a sensational move to hijack Manchester United’s plans to sign Mason Mount from Chelsea.
That is according to the Guardian.
So, what is the latest on Mason Mount and Chelsea? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well – as things stand – the England international is still refusing to sign a new contract at Stamford Bridge, with his current terms expiring in 12 months.
A story from Fabrizio Romano added that Mount reiterated his desire to leave to Mauricio Pochettino after Manchester United saw a £45m bid rejected.
Chelsea are demanding £65m for the 24-year-old, who Tuchel once called a “quality” player.
The Guardian believe Manchester United are now considering whether to walk away from negotiations to target Moises Caicedo instead.

As a result, Tuchel senses a chance to swoop in and hijack Manchester United’s talks, with Bayern Munich now believed to be stepping up their interest in the Chelsea No.19 this summer.
It remains to be seen if the German giants will meet Chelsea’s £65m asking price – however, the Blues may be willing to adopt a kinder approach to the Bavarians.
Chelsea might help Bayern Munich sign Mount
Interestingly, the Guardian mention that there is a possibility of Chelsea accepting less than £65m from a foreign club.
Manchester United are being quoted a firm £65m due to the fact the Red Devils are among Chelsea’s domestic rivals, so the Blues quite rightly prefer not to strengthen a fellow Premier League side.

That gives Bayern Munich an advantage in this particular transfer saga, and Tuchel’s involvement could even see a bidding war break out, potentially taking the fee beyond the £65m mark.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Mount looks set to leave Chelsea this summer.
