England’s Kyle Walker has suggested that France attacker Ousmane Dembele is on the same level as international superstar teammate Kylian Mbappe.

Chelsea fans will remember reading a lot of speculation around Barcelona winger Dembele in the summer, who was linked with a potential switch to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues were said to be on the verge of signing the 25-year-old, but the individual decided to ignore Chelsea’s approaches and remain at the Camp Nou with Barcelona.

He’s currently part of a France squad that has reached the World Cup quarter-finals. Next, the reigning champions face off against England this Saturday night.

Dembele on Mbappe level

England and Manchester City defender Kyle Walker, who could have a big say this weekend on the World Cup stage, has been speaking about the French threat.

He’s raved about the obvious danger of France and Paris Saint-Germain forward Mbappe, who’s the top scorer at the tournament so far (5). However, he suggests that opposite winger Dembele can be just as dangerous as Mbappe.

“Ousmane Dembele, who for me is just as good on the other wing and a very tricky player,” Walker told Sky Sports.

Chelsea did manage to reinforce in the wide areas in the summer despite missing out on Dembele, with Raheem Sterling joining from Manchester City.

Sterling has quickly established himself as one of Chelsea’s main attacking threats, but you can’t help think Dembele’s signature was desperately needed as well.

Barcelona’s £135million wide player has great pace, directness and skill. He’s superb with both feet, too.

England will be making a big mistake if they solely focus on Mbappe this weekend.
