Journalist Dean Jones has told GiveMeSport that it was not in Chelsea’s plans to sign Joao Felix permanently next summer.
The Portugal international is currently on loan at Stamford Bridge as one of their many January additions.
He has arguably had the greatest impact of any of them so far, looking extremely exciting in the majority of games he has played for the club.
His social media antics and presence points to a man who is happy to be given the freedom he is at Chelsea, in comparison to his role at Atletico Madrid over the last few years.
However, there is the lingering fact that he is currently not scheduled to be at the club beyond this season hanging over the spell.
With Christopher Nkunku set to join the club at the end of the season, it looks set to be a tough task for the manager to continue to fit all these big names and signings in a side.
Joao Felix wasn’t planned to sign permanently
This was apparently not the original plan from the club, who according to Jones only seemingly wanted to bring in the forward on a temporary basis.
He said: “It’s great that they’ve got him; can they afford to spend £120 million to sign him permanently and where does that leave their recruitment strategy because this wasn’t really part of the plan?
“He’s going to be a hard player to let go because he’s played two league games and in both performances, he’s been pretty much the best player on the pitch.”
Felix’s impressive performances have stemmed across Europe as well as domestic games, with him being the best performer against Borussia Dortmund last week.
However, fingers were pointed at him after he missed a couple of big chances in the 1-0 first leg defeat.
