Chelsea could now miss out on Moises Caicedo entirely – with the Ecuador international likely to start the 2023/24 campaign at Brighton.

That is according to Alex Crook of talkSPORT.

So, what is the latest on Chelsea target Moises Caicedo? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well – according to the Guardian – negotiations between Chelsea and Brighton have reached an impasse as the Seagulls hold out for £100m.

It has remained a mystery as to whether Chelsea will go that high to sign Caicedo – the Blues have already seen a £70m bid rejected by Brighton.

Now – however – Crook has provided some insight about Chelsea’s views on the South American’s price tag, and it doesn’t sound as if the Blues plan to increase their offer.

The transfer expert said live on talkSPORT: “Moises Caicedo is obviously their top target, but at the moment, it doesn’t look as if Chelsea are willing to pay the price. Maybe they’re trying to test Tony Bloom. They bid £70m, which we understand at talkSPORT is £30m below the £100m that Brighton want.”

We can’t see where this deal goes from here – talks between Chelsea and Brighton really have hit a brick wall.

Chelsea need Moises Caicedo to help

At this stage, the only thing left for Caicedo to do is hand in an official transfer request – something he already did when trying to force a move to Arsenal in January.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the £60,000-a-week midfielder has already agreed personal terms with Chelsea, and Ben Jacobs of CBS Sports add that the Ecuadorian is becoming very annoyed at the delay surrounding his desired move.

In that respect, Caicedo could surely be encouraged by Chelsea to do a bit more from the inside, as Brighton stand firm on their £100m valuation.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as it remains to be seen what happens next in this prolonged transfer saga.
