Chelsea’s decision to sign Axel Disasi from AS Monaco during the last transfer window has increased Trevoh Chalobah’s desire to leave the club.

That is according to a report from football.london.

It claims that Trevoh Chalobah was open to leaving Stamford Bridge during the summer and Disasi’s arrival in August stoked a desire to depart.

The 24-year-old already faced a tough task breaking into Chelsea’s team, as Mauricio Pochettino had Thiago Silva, Levi Colwill, Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile before the Blues bought Disasi.

When you consider the above, then, it is not a shock that Chalobah wants a move away from Stamford Bridge.

Axel Disasi did not need to be a priority for Chelsea

Disasi’s arrival at Chelsea has helped Pochettino’s side in the short term.

They were dealt a huge injury blow after Wesley Fofana had to undergo surgery, while Disasi was the man who scored Chelsea’s equaliser in their 1-1 draw with Liverpool at the start of the season.

However, when everyone is fit, that is five centre-back options Chelsea have when you exclude the former Monaco man.

Badiashile and Chalobah have also been out with injuries, but their problems are not as serious as Fofana’s.

Ultimately, Chelsea and Pochettino probably could have survived without buying Disasi and you can understand why Chalobah has grown disillusioned with life in west London following his arrival.

You would now expect the former England U21 international to depart Stamford Bridge when the transfer window reopens again in a bid to get more first-team opportunities.
