What Chelsea have told Nicolas Jackson with striker ‘hoping’ he can still leave this summer

Chelsea were already set for a busy final two days of the summer transfer window, but now the drastic change in Nicolas Jackson’s situation has added to the drama.

Jackson was expected to be completing his loan move to Bayern Munich this weekend, and landed in Germany to undergo his medical.

However, an injury to Liam Delap in the 2-0 win against Fulham has changed the club’s thinking, and they have now asked him to return to Stamford Bridge.

Jackson is not happy about returning to the club, and was expecting to actually face the Blues in their opening Champions League group stage game against Bayern.

Chelsea tell Nicolas Jackson he can leave if they sign a new striker

Despite the club obviously acting in their best interests after Delap’s injury, The Chelsea Chronicle understands that there is still a chance he could be on the move in the next couple of days.

Transfer insider Graeme Bailey has revealed to us that the Blues have told him that he will be able to leave if they sign a replacement before Monday’s deadline.

He said: “Jackson is hoping his loan can still happen. Chelsea are looking at options. Chelsea have told him he can go if they get one in.”

There will likely still be an appetite to push on with some sort of deal with Bayern, given the fact that they were set to receive a big fee for the original loan deal, as well as the option to buy at the end of the season.

Possible Chelsea alternatives to Jackson

There is very little time for Chelsea to find a replacement for Jackson, however one name who has emerged as a potential target is Conrad Harder.

Chelsea have added Harder to their list of targets, after holding a previous interest in the Sporting Lisbon striker, who is currently undergoing the task of replacing Viktor Gyokeres.

Bailey mentioned Strasbourg’s Emanuel Emegha and Porto’s Samu Aghehowa as possible alternative options too, however with time running out some of these deals will be hard to pursue.

There could be some work needed to be done to repair the relationship with Jackson instead, after both parties had made it clear that they wanted the move this summer.
