Chelsea sources are now keen to make one thing clear about Michael Olise after triggering the Crystal Palace No.7’s release clause.

The information was shared on Twitter by Ben Jacobs of CBS Sports.

So, what is the latest on Michael Olise and Chelsea? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well – according to The Athletic – Chelsea have triggered the Londoner’s £35m release clause, and the Blues are now expected to finalise a deal swiftly.

Interestingly – as revealed by the Daily Mail – Crystal Palace are not happy about Chelsea’s approach for Olise, and are thinking about reporting the Blues to the Premier League for ‘tapping up’ the winger.

Now – however – Jacobs has offered an update on the situation.

The respected journalist believes Chelsea sources insist they acted appropriately in their pursuit of Olise.

Jacobs adds that Crystal Palace have not decided to make an official complaint, but did express their concerns to Chelsea in an unofficial manner.

By the sounds of it, nothing illegal or inappropriate has taken place, and Chelsea looks set to push on with a deal for Olise.

Olise saga may damage relationship between Chelsea and Crystal Palace

Since the Eagles were promoted to the Premier League in 2013, they have created a strong relationship with Chelsea.

The Blues often loan talents to Selhurst Park, such as Conor Gallagher and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, while Roy Hodgson himself even confirmed these good relations after Chelsea loaned Michy Batshuayi to Crystal Palace ahead of West Ham and Tottenham.

As quoted by the Independent, the 76-year-old said: “A lot of it has to do with the relationship with Chelsea and Crystal Palace, Chelsea people and our chairman, Steve Parish.”

However, that was during the days of Roman Abramovich, and Todd Boehly’s Chelsea do not seem to be as close with Crystal Palace.

Hopefully, the relationship is not entirely ruined, as Crystal Palace often do a tremendous job of developing Chelsea’s best talents, and the south Londoners are a good club to have onside.
