Chelsea and Moises Caicedo are finally united. After a lengthy transfer saga which ran throughout the entire summer, the Blues have their man.
Chelsea and Brighton eventually shook hands on a British record transfer fee worth £115m – but only after the Ecuador international took matters into his own hands, in remarkable fashion.
So, what did Moises Caicedo do before leaving Brighton for Chelsea? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well – according to the Telegraph – the South American walked into Brighton’s training ground last Monday, determined to make his intentions as clear as possible.
Caicedo is said to have told Roberto De Zerbi – “in more direct terms than ever” – that he wants to leave the Amex Stadium, before emptying his locker and walking away from the club’s training ground.
The day before this incident – Sunday 6th August – Brighton left the Ecuadorian out of their friendly against Rayo Vallecano due to what they insisted was a hamstring issue.

However – according to Fabrizio Romano – Caicedo sat out of the 1-1 draw after telling Brighton to sell him to Chelsea, which effectively set the wheels in motion for his British record move to Stamford Bridge.
Well, that and Liverpool’s £111m bid sparking Chelsea into action on the financial front.
Moises Caicedo is already a Chelsea hero
It is rare that a player becomes so well known amongst a fanbase before even kicking a ball for his new side, but that is what this well documented transfer saga has led to.
Nevertheless – in this instance – it should act as a positive for Caicedo.

A number of reliable outlets have made it clear just how strongly the 21-year-old pushed to join Chelsea, which already seems to have endeared him to the supporters if social media is anything to go by.
Now, if Caicedo continues to deliver the level of performance he was churning out for Brighton, the Stamford Bridge faithful will have a new fan favourite on their hands.
