Chelsea are reportedly interested in both Crysencio Summerville and Jarrod Bowen following West Ham United’s relegation to the Championship.
Tottenham Hotspur have already taken advantage of West Ham’s demotion after agreeing a fee with their London rivals to sign Mateus Fernandes, and it looks like Chelsea could now do the same thing.
If they are only able to sign one of Summerville or Bowen, though, you can guess whom Xabi Alonso will go for.
Chelsea need Crysencio Summerville more than Jarrod Bowen
West Ham fans will undoubtedly agree that Bowen is a better player than Summerville. The 29-year-old has been a very consistent performer for them since joining the club from Hull City in 2020, scoring regularly for the Hammers each season.
DISCUSS: Jarrod Bowen is a better signing than Rafael Leao…
Chelsea have been linked with both this summer.
Bowen is also a creator and can play up front or on the right. Last season, he provided 11 assists in 38 Premier League appearances.
A lot of Chelsea supporters would probably not say no to him. But the Blues need a left winger more than a striker or right winger right now, which is where Summerville comes in.
Summerville’s best position is on the left, which is where he played during the 2025/26 campaign.
According to The Guardian, Chelsea have Summerville and Bowen on their radar, but the former should probably be more of a priority.

Last term, Alejandro Garnacho struggled for form, while Jamie Gittens barely played because of injuries. Garnacho scored just one goal in 24 top-flight outings.
Geovany Quenda, who has just arrived at Chelsea, can also play on the left, but the Blues are expected to bring in a new attacker this summer.
Summerville could be the man Chelsea sign, but it is well known that Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers is the player figures at Stamford Bridge would love to recruit. However, after failing to qualify for the Champions League, Chelsea are not in a favourable position.
