Christian Eriksen’s contract at Tottenham expires at the end of this season. There has been a lot of speculation surrounding his future, and he has made clear his desire to leave the club in the past. He is likely to prefer a move abroad, but here is why Chelsea should make a move.
Eriksen is a player well versed in the Premier League. He has made 222 appearances for Tottenham, scoring 51 goals in that time. He is a creative midfielder who can score goals and provide sublime assists for his teammates.

The Dane has been a thorn in Chelsea’s side in recent years and could solve the club’s creative problems. The Blue’s have scored just one goal from open play in three matches, and are struggling to create clear cut opportunities.
Eriksen has provided 62 assists during his time at Tottenham and would add another dimension to the Chelsea attack. He would fit perfectly behind Tammy Abraham in a 4-2-3-1 formation, one that Lampard used during his time at Derby.

The 27-year-old’s contract situation is what makes him a particularly enticing signing. His current deal ends in the summer of 2020, which means that there is the possibility of securing a cut-price deal in January or a pre-contract agreement for the summer.
Chelsea should at least explore the possibility of signing Eriksen. His Premier League experience and natural ability would add real value in the second half of the season. However, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy will not want to sell one of his star players to a rival. He would certainly make it difficult for the Blues to sign the Danish midfielder.
