‘World class’ striker will not be sold to Chelsea in January – Fabrizio Romano

Chelsea could face a huge problem if they want to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen in January.

Victor Osimhen has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, but it looks like Chelsea will find it difficult to get him out of the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

That is because, according to Fabrizio Romano, who has been speaking on his YouTube channel, Napoli will not even consider a crazy bid for Osimhen.

It is a potential blow for Chelsea, who look in desperate need of a new striker. Mauricio Pochettino’s men failed to score at home once again last weekend after they lost 2-0 to their west London rivals Brentford.

Napoli’s position on Osimhen appears to be not for sale.

Discussing their stance on his YouTube channel, Romano said: “What I’m told is that, at the moment, the position of Napoli for the January transfer window remains the same.

“They don’t want to sell Victor Osimhen in January, so not even a crazy bid, at the moment, is something that they would consider.”

Will Chelsea put Napoli’s resolve to the test?

Chelsea have spent crazy money on Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez, so you really cannot rule them making a ridiculous offer for Osimhen out.

A lot will probably depend on how their current set of forwards perform from now until the January transfer window.

If Christopher Nkunku returns from injury and starts firing, for example, there may be a hesitancy to go out and test Napoli’s resolve. They may just wait until the summer, where they should have a much better chance of acquiring the Nigerian, who Don Hutchison hailed as “world class” on ESPN FC last season.

He will be into the final year of his contract, while Napoli will have enough time to search for a replacement.

If Chelsea are still struggling for goals by the time the January transfer window arrives, though, then they are going to have to go in for Osimhen or someone else. If this problem of finding the back of the net is not addressed, Pochettino’s side could easily finish in the bottom half of the table again.
