Barcelona could enter the mix for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, who has also been linked with a move to Chelsea.

That is according to journalist Graeme Bailey.

Bailey recently reported on 90min that Chelsea are monitoring Victor Osimhen‘s situation at Napoli, but he has since said on Talking Transfers that he would not be shocked if Barcelona made a move for the Nigerian.

Unlike the Blues, Barcelona already have a clinical forward in Robert Lewandowski.

However, the former Bayern Munich forward is now 35, so Xavi may have to start planning for the future soon.

Barcelona to enter the mix

Bailey is not ruling out Barcelona joining the race for Osimhen’s signature.

Discussing the 24-year-old, he said: “It wouldn’t surprise me to see Barcelona get involved in the Osimhen mix at some point. But if he does want out next summer, there will [be] and are suitors in England.

“Chelsea still haven’t got their No.9 sorted out yet. They should’ve just signed Osimhen last summer.”

Chelsea vs Barcelona for Victor Osimhen?

It really would not be a shock to see two top teams like Chelsea and Barcelona going head-to-head for Osimhen.

The Nigeria international, who has been hailed as “world class” by former Liverpool player Don Hutchison, is one of the best centre-forwards in the game at present.

Last season, he scored 26 goals in Serie A and has already managed to register five this term.

With that kind of firepower, there is no way Mauricio Pochettino’s side would be in the bottom half of the table.

Hopefully they can land a new striker like the former Lille man or Brentford and England forward Ivan Toney next year. But No.9s of that quality, Chelsea and Pochettino are not going to be getting a free run at either.
