A section of Chelsea supporters on social media disagreed with Conor Gallagher’s apparent decision to sign for Crystal Palace over Leeds United.
TEAMtalk reported earlier today that Gallagher will snub any approach from Leeds and join Patrick Vieira’s new regime at Palace.
Both Premier League sides are admirers of the 21-year-old, who is set to leave his boyhood club on loan this season.
Whilst the decision on his short-term future is not yet finalised, there is a growing sense he will gain more first-team opportunities away from Stamford Bridge.
Palace would probably offer him more minutes than Leeds, yet possibly doing so in a relegation battle.
Blues fans felt this could go against Gallagher and criticised his choice to overlook Marcelo Bielsa’s all-action outfit.
Here’s how they reacted on Twitter:
Leeds would have been a better place for him but he will get more game time at palace— Deadass the best team in europe (@markcfc55) July 29, 2021
Wrong choice, no doubt, with Vieira he’d be in trouble— ‘ (@oneche4) July 29, 2021
Should of gone to Leeds— Adam (@CarefreeAdz) July 29, 2021

Go to Leeds.
Leeds would’ve been a better fit imo— CFC_Luca🇮🇹 (@MafiaBo33) July 29, 2021
Should’ve gone to Leeds, playing under Bielsa would’ve improved his game.— Dave Train (@smark1017) July 29, 2021
Vieira will just drag the whole team to relegation level
Of course, there are pros and cons for Gallagher potentially linking up with Palace.
He can be guaranteed at least one friendly face will be waiting for him at Selhurst Park, thanks to Marc Gueh’s transfer from Chelsea earlier this month.
Learning from one of the game’s great midfielders is another key selling point.
One major downside is that the Eagles tend to swoop quite close to the bottom half of the table.
Gallagher has already fought to avoid demotion from the top division with West Bromwich Albion.
Surely, he wouldn’t want to face that same fate again.
But these are just assumptions.
For now, the England Under-21 international is still a Chelsea player and could still be part of Thomas Tuchel’s squad come the 14th of August.
