Tomori has been with the West London club since the age of seven and enjoyed a remarkable rise through the youth ranks.

The 21-year-old worked under Frank Lampard last season in the Championship during a loan spell and the pair were reunited this campaign.

Chelsea boss Lampard decided to include the English centre-back in his first-team plans and he’s slotted nicely into the senior squad, as he’s shown a real comfort stepping up to the top-flight for the first time.

Tomori expressed his delight on his social media after he committed his future to his boyhood club.

“A very proud moment for myself and my family to sign a new 5 year contract with the club I’ve known since I was 7 years old. More hard work to continue this dream I’m living,” Tomori wrote on his personal Twitter account.

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media were quick to congratulate their defender with his news and one predicts he can become a club legend in the future.

Tomori is new under contract until 2024 and his aim moving forward has to be to try nail down a spot in the starting XI.

He’s already played in 16 senior games this across all competitions, but it’s going to become even harder to start consistent games following the return of Antonio Rudiger from injury.
