Martin Keown was left amazed by the performance of Netherlands star Denzel Dumfries at the World Cup on Saturday.
Inter Milan’s Dumfries, who’s linked as a Chelsea target, delivered a masterclass on the World Cup stage to help the Dutch qualify for the quarter-finals of the tournament.
Netherlands secured a 3-1 victory at the weekend against a spirited United States outfit.
Dumfries provided two assists during the first-half with excellent pulled back crosses. In fact, the right wing-back looked dangerous all game flying up and down the flank.
The 26-year-old then got himself on the scoresheet in the second-half with a left-footed volley from close range.

Dumfries at the World Cup
Dumfries was excellent for the Netherlands at the last major international tournament back at Euro 2020. It looks like the speedster loves the big stage because he’s at it again at the World Cup this winter.
BBC pundit Keown was raving about the Inter Milan full-back throughout today’s match:
“It’s Dumfries again on the right with his blistering pace and he whips the ball in,” Keown told BBC One (4:08pm, 3 December).
He later added on Dumfries (4:13pm): “Very good on that [right] side. He’s playing as a wing-back and in those forward positions he’s really picked out quality passes for both goals. That’s what you want from your wing-back.
Keown said after the Dumfries goal (4:38pm): “He buries it. Absolute quality. Okay it hits him on the shin but he deserves that luck the way he’s played. Wonderful finish.”

Chelsea speculation
Tuttomercatoweb reports that Chelsea now have a “strong” interest in trying to sign Dumfries.
InterLive have previously claimed there’s a £43million valuation on the Inter full-back, but will that still be the case if he keeps doing so well at the World Cup?
He looks tailor-made for the Blues system at Stamford Bridge with his tireless energy at wing-back. He possess a calm head and quality in the final third, too.
