Josko Gvardiol will not forget the last month in a hurry.

The 20-year-old crammed more into a few weeks than many professionals manage in their entire career.

He started every game of Croatia’s World Cup campaign, as they claimed the bronze medal having fallen at the semi-final hurdle.

Gvardiol even scored the goal that sent his nation on the way to victory over Morocco on Saturday.

His diving header was sprinkling on what’s been an extremely sweet Qatari treat for the RB Leipzig defender.

Josko Gvardiol earns World Cup award

As a reward for such a sterling tournament, the ‘magnificent’ centre-back earned a place in Opta’s statistical team of the World Cup, as relayed by the BBC.

According to the article, Gvardiol made more clearances (37) than anybody else in the competition.

If that isn’t evidence enough of the young man’s capabilities, then how about we talk about the huge interest now hurtling in his direction.

Chelsea are reportedly amongst several of Europe’s financial heavyweights in the picture for Gvardiol’s signature.

The race will only intensify now the World Cup has concluded and the January transfer window is about to open.

Leipzig will understandably have numerous suitors knocking on their door, with Gvardiol the man they want to speak to.

Todd Boehly has already been welcomed in to home of the Bundesliga club once recently, thanks to sealing the signing of Christopher Nkunku for next season.

Who’s to say he can’t charm the Germans again, but for Gvardiol’s signature this time?
