Chelsea youngster Shumaira Mheuka will be loving life at the club at the moment.

Shumaira Mheuka recently signed his first professional contract, while the striker was included in Chelsea‘s squad for their Conference League game against Panathinaikos last week.

Enzo Maresca‘s men put in another convincing performance in the competition, beating the Greek side 4-1.

Mheuka was an unused substitute, but the 17-year-old was just happy to be included. Chelsea fans were also pleased to see Mheuka selected.

Shumaira Mheuka on Conference League experience

Shumaira says he loved everything about his trip to the Olympic Stadium, even the Panathinaikos supporters pointing lasers at him!

For the Chelsea academy player, being with Maresca’s group was amazing and he is hoping that there is more to come.

Speaking to Chelsea’s official website, he said: “Being with the men’s team was amazing, I could hardly believe it! Supporting Chelsea as a kid, it feels surreal to now be around top players, wearing the badge and gaining experience in intense atmospheres. Those moments shape who you’ll become as a player.

“The energy in the stadium was intense, with fans yelling and even pointing lasers at me, but I enjoyed every second. Playing at that level is incredible and I hope there’s more to come.”

Josh Acheampong was not involved amid an ongoing contract stand-off with the club. Chelsea believe Acheampong has a lot of potential, but it does not look like he is going to play until his contract situation is resolved.

Shumaira Mheuka could still get minutes in the Conference League

While Mheuka did not come on against Panathinaikos, there is still a very good chance of him getting to play some football in the Conference League this season.

Chelsea are smashing the competition, already scoring eight goals in just two games. You would expect them to qualify for the next round quickly, which would allow Maresca to give Mheuka and some other youngsters opportunities.

The Blues’ next game in the Conference League is against Armenian side Noah. Before then, Chelsea play Manchester United in the Premier League and Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup.

Maresca’s men will not exactly know what to expect when they travel to Old Trafford after United’s decision to sack Erik ten Hag.

Chelsea lost the same fixture last season, though they were able to get their revenge at the Bridge thanks to a Cole Palmer hat-trick.
