Chelsea’s Under-21s side thrashed local rivals Fulham on Friday night, and one youngster earned huge praise from supporters on social media.
Chelsea thrashed Fulham 6-0 away from home yesterday in a Premier League 2 fixture. The Blues U21s side have made a slow start to the season by winning one of their opening five league matches, but they recorded a second victory in style this week.
Filipe Coelho’s young Chelsea team scored six second-half goals at Fulham, with six different players on the scoresheet. Donnell McNeilly, Tyrique George, Richard Olise, Shim Mheuka, Deivid Washington and Jimmy-Jay Morgan all netted.
The Blues academy continues to develop future stars with massive potential. However, it’s worrying that The Daily Mail recently claimed that many Chelsea’s youngsters fear the path into the first team is closed.

Chelsea fans amazed by Tyrique George
Tyrique George, 18, has just had quite a remarkable couple of days.
George made his third first-team appearance for Chelsea on Thursday night by coming off the bench in the Conference League win over Gent. Afterwards, that was followed by a start and a goal for the U21s on Friday evening versus Fulham.
A selection of Blues supporters on social media were left blown away by George’s latest contribution for the academy team.
The English winger tormented the Fulham defence with his pace and power. Also, he produced a stunning bit of skill before thundering in a low finish for his goal.
Here are many Chelsea fans praising George last night for his U21s performance:
@CFC_Nathan_ wrote: “He’s actually so clear of this level.”
@heat_ball said: “He looks like he’s devolving physically. His movements look quicker and stronger.”
@CFCAzM posted: “Made his Professional European Debut off the Bench only last night against Gent. Then goes back to Chelsea U21s to score a banger, you can’t stop him cutting in. Tyrique George is special.”
@tyreidsavage claimed: “Tyrique George is a star man. What a goal for the U21s.”
@Hassan241 shared: “Tyrique George is unbelievable.”
We hope to see more of Tyrique George
At the age of 18, George is already standing out for the U21s and looks like a major talent. Hopefully, there’s more first-team minutes to follow this campaign.
There’s a lot of competition for places in Chelsea’s senior squad, especially in the wide areas. Therefore, it’s encouraging that Enzo Maresca has still been prepared to draft in George for certain games this season.
It’s so important for the academy system that they continue to see some of their products given an opportunity with the first team.
The club’s involvement in the Conference League tournament this year feels like a great chance to blood some of the best young talents.
