The Chelsea academy lost one of their more talented prospects this summer to a Premier League rival.

Rio Ngumoha has left the club in favour of a move to Liverpool, with John Terry believing the Blues have let go of a seriously promising player.

It has been very clear that one of the keys of the new ownership has been to bring in a plethora of young talent before their elite rivals.

Despite the reported rift between Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali at the helm of the club, there is seemingly no plans for this to come to an end anytime soon.

This has reportedly left the academy at Cobham worried that they are likely to get lost in the process at the club.

Chelsea academy players losing faith in the club

A well-placed source told the Mail Online that the academy players are beginning to lse trust in the process of them coming through to the first team.

They said: “There is a big distrust with academy boys at Chelsea because of the first team strategy of just signing players. They feel there is no pathway and they will just get lost in the machine. They don’t trust that there is a pathway for them to the first-team at Chelsea anymore.”

The Blues will point to the amount of minutes they offered academy players last season as a positive, although the injury crisis somewhat forced Mauricio Pochettino’s hand on occasion.

Chelsea youngsters have chance in Conference League

Enzo Maresca will have the opportunity to do the same thing when the Conference League group stage matches come around, with a number of youngsters named in the squad instead of the likes of Ben Chilwell.

Kiano Dyer is one of those who can get his chance to impress the manager, with him being named in the squad while the likes of Cole Palmer and Romeo Lavia will see their minutes managed.
