Report: John Terry is a huge fan of 17-year-old Chelsea prospect, he's really impressed him in training

John Terry reportedly admires Chelsea prospect Leo Castledine, who’s another exciting youngster coming through the academy ranks at Cobham.

There’s been a constant stream of talent feeding from youth level to the first team in recent years at Stamford Bridge. It doesn’t look like that’s stopping anytime soon, too.

Castledine actually signed for Chelsea as an Under-15 and has really impressed in the past couple of years.

The 17-year-old is an attacking midfielder that provides a real goal threat. Also, he is showing versatility to play so many different positions on the pitch, something that plenty of the academy players do.

Chelsea legend Terry, who has a part-time consultancy role with the Blues academy, is apparently a big fan of Castledine.

According to The Athletic, Terry regularly makes comments about what a great trainer the 17-year-old midfielder is.

He treats training sessions like a cup final, something reminiscent of Terry when he was Chelsea’s club captain during his playing days.

It’s worth highlighting comments from Blues Under-18s coach Ed Brand from earlier in 2022. The academy coach shared that Castledine is always doing extra drills after training to improve his own game.

The noise coming out of Stamford Bridge around the youngster seems very positive.

Graham Potter used 18-year-old Lewis Hall in Chelsea’s two games before the World Cup break, so other academy player should be encouraged that a genuine route into the senior squad still exists.

Castledine has been involved in some first-team training during Potter’s reign, so he’s got to try impress whenever he gets the chance.

In fairness, it sounds like he’s way ahead of schedule in his development and the best option will be just to enjoy his football rather than put too much pressure on himself.
