Chelsea managed to beat Crystal Palace 3-1 at Selhurst Park yesterday and it was quite a significant win.
They had to fight for it after going 1-0 down, but it was worth it.
Chelsea have now moved back into the top half of the table. But as well as that, their victory over Palace means they have now won their last 13 Premier League games versus the Eagles, the first time they have done that against any opponent. The possibility of them doing so was something highlighted before the match.
Conor Gallagher, who actually spent the 2021/22 season on loan at Selhurst Park, was at the heart of Chelsea’s comeback.
The midfielder equalised just after the restart before scoring the winner in stoppage time. Enzo Fernandez ended any hopes Palace had of levelling things up after adding to Gallagher’s second goal just prior to the full-time whistle.

For Palace, the above is obviously a shocking record. They must be really tired of Chelsea and Gallagher now.
The Englishman also scored a winner against them last season, firing a long shot into the net to give the Blues a 2-1 victory at Selhurst Park.
Focusing on his latest display, though, it was a good all-round midfield performance. Gallagher ran 13km during the match, a statistic that shocked the 24-year-old.
While Chelsea may have a good recent record at Selhurst Park, their one at the Etihad is extremely poor, and that is where they are off to next, unfortunately.
The Blues have lost their last four games there in all competitions. Their last win there came in 2021, the same year they beat Pep Guardiola’s men in the Champions League final.
Since then, it has been all downhill for Chelsea really. But at least they can go into their next encounter against City with some confidence following those triumphs over Palace and Villa.
