Graham Potter surely won't be selling 23-year-old Chelsea player in January now - TCC View

Trevoh Chalobah has recently been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge in January, but surely now Chelsea boss Graham Potter won’t allow him to leave.

The 23-year-old is enjoying a mini purple patch of form after breaking into Potter’s starting line-up.

Chelsea have actually kept five consecutive clean sheets across all competitions, with Chalobah starting in the previous four games.

This definitely bodes well going into this Saturday’s Premier League contest at home to Manchester United.

Exit speculation

Well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano explained on his YouTube channel last month that Chalobah was keen to be an important player at the Bridge. He added discussions had actually commenced over the defender leaving in the January transfer window, either on loan or permanently.

However, the centre-back’s luck has changed dramatically in the last few weeks.

He’s looking a really trustworthy option in the backline for the Blues on the right of a back three, something he proved last season he can do at a top level.

Potter won’t let Chalobah leave

In our view, Chalobah is going absolutely nowhere in the New Year.

The comments from Potter during Friday’s press conference about the centre-half is pretty clear evidence he’s highly rated at this moment in time by the boss.

When discussing Chalobah, Potter told Football London: “I’ve been very impressed – and from day one I have to say. He didn’t start in the first couple of games but acted perfectly. He trained really well and was very professional and determined. He is an impressive character and very focused on his football. He wants to play, wants to help the team, wants Chelsea to win.”

“So he is great in that regard and is a bit of a soldier. He has played in all the games because we’ve been having some problems in terms of availability for players, but he has stood in for us and is performing at a really good level.”

If Chelsea go deep into several cup competitions, they should absolutely fly past 50-plus games during the course of the season.

Kepa Arrizabalaga is getting an extended run as the starting goalkeeper due to his excellent form, which is really encouraging for the rest of the dressing room to see.

For Chalobah, he can only continue in this current form to prove he’s a valuable player.

It seems crazy to think that any kind of move could be realistic in January.
