The incredible stat that shows Raheem Sterling’s transformation under Mauricio Pochettino at Chelsea

After a poor first year at Chelsea, Raheem Sterling has really turned things around at Stamford Bridge this season.

Last term, Raheem Sterling managed to score just six goals in 28 Premier League appearances. This time around, the winger already has four with 26 games left to play.

He has looked like a much more dangerous forward overall, with one stat provided by Squawka showing that.

This season, Sterling has had 111 touches in the opposition box, more than any other player in the Premier League.

He is popping up everywhere in Chelsea‘s attack and has been able to really express himself under Mauricio Pochettino.

According to WhoScored, the England international is also completing 2.4 dribbles per game, which is the highest average in the Blues’ squad.

One of the Premier League’s most dangerous forwards

Simon Jordan recently claimed that Sterling has been “bang average” this season, but the above shows that he has been anything but.

The 28-year-old may not be doing Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah numbers, but he is still proving to be a massive threat.

Sterling has been terrorising defenders and is constantly in the opposition’s box. He is just a real menace right now, which is great to see if you are a Chelsea fan, not so much if you are a full-back coming up against him.

Despite his improvement and form, Gareth Southgate has still left the former Manchester City star out of his latest England squad.

Cole Palmer and Conor Gallagher have been called up, so there is still some Chelsea representation at St George’s Park. But looking at how Sterling is playing right now, especially compared to some of the other forwards who Southgate has selected, it is disappointing to see him excluded once again.

He will at least be fresh for the Newcastle United game after the international break, which will no doubt be a tough fixture.
