Graham Potter was recently handed the unenvious task to select which of his new signings he would choose to include in the Champions League squad for the remainder of the season.

Rules state that he would only have been able to choose a maximum of three players to add to his European squad.

Even then, he would have to choose a first team player to take off the list in order to make it three.

With a variety of quality players to choose from, the decision for the Englishman will certainly have not been easy.

Eventually, it emerged that he had chosen Enzo Fernandez, Joao Felix and Mykhailo Mudryk to represent the Blues, at the expense of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

This of course means that the likes of David Datro Fofana and Noni Madueke will not be present, however there is one omission that will surely hurt the Blues even more.

Benoit Badiashile joined the club with very little fanfare, although has recently established himself as an important member of the first team.

The Blues are yet to concede in the three games the Frenchman has played, and his dominance continued in the draw with Fulham on Friday.

Badiashile has also formed a positive relationship with fellow defender Thiago Silva, as Chelsea continue to adapt to Potter’s back four style.

This will likely mean that Kalidou Koulibaly returns to the starting line-up when the Blues take on Borussia Dortmund in less than two weeks’ time.

Blues fans will be hoping that the Senegal international can rescue some sort of form for the big occasion, with his time at Stamford Bridge so far being extremely underwhelming.

There is also a chance that Wesley Fofana will be available after his absence in recent months through injury.
